IE windows opening randomly?

hi all

when using InternetExplorer, i get between 2 and 10 randomly opening identical windows per minute.

And when OutlookExpress is open, new mail windows seem to open on their own at will.

I use ZoneAlarm, and AGV antivirus, AdAware and recently Spybot-Search+Destroy, all of which are updated and run regularly.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this REALLY annoying problem, and how to fix it, would be greatly appreciated.

I know you are using a variety of very good protection tools, but this looks very much like a virus or spamware, particularly since it it doing two different things. You might try using HiJackThis:

it turned out that the remote for my sky tv system was being picked up by the infrared on the laptop, and causing this very peculiar problem.

i now use the remote carefully, by making sure its not pointing anywhere near the laptop when being used.
