How do i remove a trogan from my computer?

I have run AGV and detected 13 trogan's all were suposedly removed, but i have noticed when i run ''Ad-Aware'' the program stops when it gets to '' HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\ and freezes...also when i get E-mail %26 the little envelope appears in the system tray...i click on it, and when the page has almost loaded i keep getting ''Internet Explorer has encountered a problem''..........any advice would be very much appreciated...

If you visit the symantec website they have many removal tools for download for free. They come with full instructions and dont require you to have norton to use them.

It Is always a good idea to turn off the system restore function in XP before removing virus' as they have a nasty habit of hiding in the restore area (they cant be removed from there with antivirus software) and then returning after a reboot.
